Elon Musk, who was selected by President-elect Donald Trump to head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) along with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, shared some insight into X on Tuesday about how the department will operate.
Musk said the department is open to suggestions and concerns from ordinary Americans about how the government spends money.
“If you ever think we're cutting back on something important or not cutting back on something useless, please let us know!” Musk said in the X Post.
Musk also said that all of the department's actions “will be published online to ensure maximum transparency.”

When President Trump announced the new department on Tuesday, he said its purpose was to “dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulation, Reduce wasteful spending, and reorganize federal agencies. ”
DOGE will leverage knowledge from outside the government to advise and guide the administration and work with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to “promote large-scale structural reforms.”

Mr. Musk and Mr. Ramaswamy, both successful entrepreneurs, have been adamant about their desire to cut unnecessary spending to reduce government debt, which stands at at least $35 trillion.
“This is going to be a shock to the entire system and to everyone involved in government waste – a lot of people!” Musk said.
Ramswamy also said he and Musk were “not going to get along” shortly after Trump announced his new role.

Musk and Ramaswamy are the latest additions to the Trump administration after a busy few days.
