Caitlin Clark took more than her fair share of abuse during the WNBA season. Now, even though the season is long over, she is still being abused.
The WNBA's only true star sat courtside at the Knicks vs. Pacers game at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night. The camera panned to Clark, who was sitting next to her boyfriend Connor McCaffrey. At that point, play-by-play announcer Mike Breen introduced the television audience to a woman who needed no introduction.
Knicks legend Walt “Clyde” Frazier, who handles color analyst duties on MSG broadcasts, praised Clark.
“She doesn't seem that strong. I could have stopped her,” Frazier said on the air.
The sarcastic comment drew a laugh from Breen and prompted several comments about X.
Frazier played for the Knicks in the late '60s and early '70s and was one of the best point guards in the NBA. He definitely could have stopped Clark back then, but he probably would have been out of a job today.
But, of course, Frasier was kidding.
Clark's 19.2 points per game this year is comparable to Frazier's 18.9 points per game over his entire career.
The Knicks could have used either Clark or “Clyde” in his prime, but they ended up losing 132-121 to the Pacers.
