Caitlin Clark wowed fans at Annika's Pro-Am golf event on Wednesday.
The Fever star nearly took out some fans with a golf ball when she swung it at Pelican Golf Club in Bellaire, Florida, as confirmed in a video posted from the course.
When the ball soared over the heads of fans who were lining up to catch Clark on the course, the crowd responded with a loud “oh!”
“I'm sorry,” Clark said, and many onlookers began to laugh.
“Fore!” I heard someone yell.
Clark signed the ball that curved to the left on the par-3 ninth hole and handed it to a fan, who appeared to be hit. According to Golf Week.
The WNBA All-Star, who wore pink Nike Infinity Tour 2 PE with gold cleats, joked and talked with fans afterward.
“I just don’t want to hit people with golf balls,” he said with a laugh. clark said before the event. “That's my top priority.”
Clark, who described himself as an “average” player, doubled down on that Wednesday as he walked between holes.
“I don't get nervous in basketball, but this made me a little nervous because I didn't want to hit anyone.” she said.
Clark then played the front nine in a foursome with tournament organizer and Swedish golf legend Annika Sorenstam and LPGA world No. 1 Nelly Korda.
Clark and Korda, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, swapped “jerseys” at one point.
She competed in the Anika Pro-Am on Wednesday before the tournament rounds were held Nov. 14-17.
Two days earlier, Clark attended the Michigan men's basketball game between Butler and Western, sitting courtside with Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton and his girlfriend Jade Jones at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. I was seen doing it.
The trio are close friends, along with Clark's boyfriend and Butler assistant coach Connor McCaffrey.
Clark, 22, is enjoying his first WNBA offseason after a tumultuous year with little time off.
The former Iowa State All-American played his final collegiate game on April 7, an 87-75 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the NCAA title game.
Clark turned professional eight days later when the Fever selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Clark has not yet decided whether he will take his talents to the Unrivaled League, a new 3-on-3 league founded by the Liberty's Brianna Stewart and the Lynx's Napheesa Collier.
Unrivaled was created to help players gain financial stability during the offseason and avoid having to travel overseas to play, and is held in Miami from January to March during the WNBA offseason.
