For those interested in mythology, a comparison may be made between Icarus and Jerry Jones.
On a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, the Kelce brothers, both poets, offered their thoughts on the latest Cowboys headline, “Curtain Gate,” which has nothing to do with football.
“Jerry Jones is still at war with the sun.” travis kels said. “I'm not going to lie, we've had problems like that before, playing in that stadium.
“That fucking glare coming from the end zone in the afternoon is just fucking stupid, absolutely ridiculous. It feels like it's even more diffused because of the glass. It's like the sun is bigger and brighter than it's ever been. I mean, I get it, you try not to make excuses for those things, but you know where. [Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb is] I'm coming from here. ”
This apparent controversy was brought back into the spotlight during the second quarter of the Cowboys' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.
Quarterback Cooper Rush saw Lamb wide open in the end zone, but the sun was in Lamb's eyes so he couldn't see Rush or the ball.
After the game, Lamb told reporters he was “100 percent” in favor of raising the curtains at AT&T Stadium to alleviate those problems.
But Jones was quick to dispel any notion that any additions would come to his massive $1.2 billion coffers.
“So let's tear down the stadium and build another one? Are you kidding?” Jones scoffed, claiming it was actually an advantage for the team.
“Every team that comes here has the same problem and they know where the sun is. We know where the sun is in our stadium.”
Jason Kelce, who spent his entire career in Philadelphia, Dallas' district rival, is familiar with Dallas' Sun problems.
“The intensity of the sun coming through that window at that time of day is crazy,” Kelce said on the podcast. “You would think they would put up an awning or something, but unfortunately.”
