House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) was detained at Dulles International Airport earlier this month for being “intoxicated,” Fox News has confirmed.
McCaul admitted to taking Ambien and drinking alcohol before his flight from Washington, D.C., to Texas, Semaphore first reported.
He said he missed his flight and realized he was “disoriented.”
McCall said he was “briefly detained” by police and then taken in by his family.

“Two weeks ago, I made a mistake, and I take full responsibility for it. I missed my flight to Texas and got disoriented at the airport. This was due to my mistake of taking Ambien. It was a decision. I drank alcohol to sleep on my next flight,” McCall said in a statement.
