Rudy Giuliani's lawyer on Wednesday asked to resign Represents former New York mayor in battle with two Georgia election officials seeking to recover $146 million defamation judgment.
Lawyers Kenneth Caruso and David Labkowski cited a New York state rule that allows lawyers to withdraw if they have a “fundamental disagreement” with their client.
They also cited provisions that allow revocation if the customer insists on presenting a claim that cannot be supported in good faith and if the customer “fails to cooperate with the representation.”
Lawyers had asked for the written invoice to be completely sealed. U.S. District Judge Louis Lehman refused, but agreed to redact certain details because they involved privileged information. Mr Liman still has to accept their request to withdraw.

Mr. Liman had ordered Mr. Giuliani to turn over most of his assets to the mother-daughter duo, including a New York City apartment, a Mercedes Benz, a luxury watch and autographed Yankees memorabilia, but their lawyers say the former mayor It has repeatedly accused it of obstructing that effort. . A judge has not yet decided whether the former mayor must surrender his Florida condo or whether he can exempt it by declaring it his personal residence. If that is denied, Mr. Giuliani is asking to keep his New York apartment instead.
“The law firm of Willkie Farr is full of twisted left-wing hate and vitriol,” Giuliani wrote to X on Tuesday, referring to the Election Commission lawyers. “Judge Lehman doesn't seem to know about exemptions. They confiscated all my money and it wasn't much. I need legal representation against these evil people. Food too. I can’t buy it.”
On Wednesday, the election board made a new request for access to a storage facility used by Mr. Giuliani in New York, raising “serious concerns” about the property Mr. Giuliani allegedly moved from his apartment.
John Langford, one of the election commission's attorneys, also asked to withdraw from the lawsuit last week, saying he was changing jobs.
