A human head washed up on a popular South Florida beach on November 12, authorities said.
Miami-Dade police are investigating a case after a beach worker in Key Biscayne, Florida, discovered a severed head behind a Key Colony II Ocean Sound condominium early Tuesday morning, according to multiple reports.
Police have not been able to identify the head, nor do they know the age or gender. CBS Miami reported.

Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin said the cause of the decapitation is still under investigation. NBC News.
“We have not been able to determine exactly how the head was separated from the body, but there are several leading theories,” Martin told NBC.

Miami-Dade and local authorities are awaiting further information regarding the identity of the deceased. But Martin said: people magazine He said he suspected the body was that of an adult male, but was awaiting confirmation.
“We're not going to discount any possibility at this point,” Martin said. “This could be an accident or a missing person, but it is too early to determine the circumstances.”
