House Republicans have selected a member of the party leadership to replace Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, RN.Y.
Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) was elected chair of the House Republican Conference on Wednesday night, making her the fourth in the House Republican leadership position.
She was the favorite to win the race against Republican Rep. Kat Cammack of Florida.
Mr. McClain is already a junior member of the leadership team, serving as House Republican Conference Secretary in the 118th Congress.

Mr. Cammack's candidacy was boosted by support from allies such as Rep. Byron Donald (R-Fla.) and groups such as Log Cabin Republicans and the national organization Young Republicans.
Mr. McClain, on the other hand, received support from a broad swath of the Republican conference, from members of the House Freedom Caucus to rank-and-file national security hawks.

Stefanik initially intended to run again before accepting President-elect Trump's nomination to be ambassador to the United Nations.
The conference chair is responsible for overseeing and implementing messaging strategy within the House Republican Party.

This comes after House Republicans unanimously supported Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) to be re-elected, two people who were present told Fox News Digital.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Minn.) and House Minority Leader Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) were also unanimously elected to return to their jobs, according to officials.
