The NBA Rookie of the Year race is heating up.
But for now, the preseason longshot has established itself as the betting favorite.
Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain jumps to +350 to win the award for having the best odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.
McCain, selected 16th overall by the Sixers in the 2024 NBA Draft, has gotten significant playing time in a rotation with injured Nick Nurse and is making the most of it.
Duke is averaging 13.5 points on 45.7% shooting and 38.5% from 3-point range in 19 minutes per game.
Since taking on a larger role over the past four games, McCain is averaging 25.5 points per game.

He had his best game of the young season, scoring 34 points and dishing out 10 assists in Wednesday night's 114-106 loss to the Cavaliers, who were without Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey. I did it.
It was a meteoric rise for McCain, who was ranked at +3,500 points at DraftKings Sportsbook in the days leading up to Opening Day.
McCain leapfrogged Zachary Lizacher, the Hawks' No. 1 overall pick, who also had a strong early NBA career.

Risacher remains one of the favorites at +450.
Grizzlies center Zach Eady, who was a preseason favorite at most major sportsbooks, has the third-best odds at +500.
Like McCain, the Wizards' Carlton “Bub” Carrington has also had a great run up the odds board, sitting just behind Eadie at +600.
