Mr. Blanche previously worked in the Southern District of the United States Attorney's Office for the State of New York.

“Todd is an outstanding lawyer and will be an important leader at the Department of Justice in fixing a justice system that has been broken for far too long,” President Trump said in a statement.

If confirmed, Blanche would be the second-highest-ranking official under new Attorney General Matt Gaetz. Gaetz, a former Florida congressman, was announced as President Trump's AG nominee on Wednesday.

“Todd served nine years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, including almost four years as Supervisor. He served as Co-Chief of the Violent Crimes Division and later as Co-Chief of the White Plains Division, Public Corruption, “He oversaw investigations and prosecutions involving securities fraud, bank and wire fraud, Medicare and federal program fraud, RICO violations, violent crimes, and other criminal violations,” his law firm's website states. .

“Todd served as counsel of record to President Donald J. Trump in two prosecutions brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith in the Southern District of Florida and the District of Columbia, and in a prosecution brought by the New York County District Attorney. “There is,” he said. Continue.

President Trump also announced that Emil Bove, another lawyer who has represented Blanche in court until she was confirmed by the Senate, will become acting deputy attorney general. Following Blanche's confirmation, Bove will officially take on the role of Principal Deputy Attorney General.

Both Mr. Bovet and Mr. Blanche represented Mr. Trump in the historic New York federal trial. Trump has not been sentenced in this case because the justices will consider arguments about Trump's immunity from prosecution as the new president.

Given the long-standing Department of Justice (DOJ) policy that a sitting president cannot be prosecuted, the president-elect's victory will likely halt the federal prosecutorial efforts launched against him by Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Smith is also reportedly working to finish any remaining work in order to retire before President Trump takes back the White House in January.th Officials say the president has a chance to remove him from office.

Additionally, President Trump appointed Dean John Sauer as Attorney General.

Sauer represented Trump before the Supreme Court in a case in which Trump was granted broad immunity from prosecution. The Attorney General represents the U.S. government before the Supreme Court.
