There was a time when Bill Belichick couldn't do anything wrong in Boston, but those days are over.
After the Week 10 win over the Patriots, one of the few wins the Patriots have had this year, Belichick, who is now an analyst for multiple networks, said New England's win had a lot to do with Chicago's terrible offense. Ta. The Patriots were doing well.
This reaction appears to have prompted a reaction from Boston radio host Fred Toucher. toucher and hardy 98.5 programs sports hubcalled Belichick “shit” for not giving credit to his old team.
“Good old Belichick badmouthed the team again last night. He really sucks,” Toucher said. “I can't believe Patriots fans look at that player now and don't think, 'How boring,' because even if they did well, God doesn't give them credit for doing well. It's from.
“You see him getting all down on them when they do bad things, right? At least it’s in the name of doing a job. I don't judge anything. I literally argue, “Well, it's actually more about the Bears than it is about the Patriots.'' That's taking revenge. ”
Belichick has consistently criticized the Patriots this year. Once again, the Patriots have been consistently bad all year long.
On Sunday, New England defeated Chicago 19-3, 3-7. But Beitchik's view that the victory was due to Chicago's offensive incompetence is supported by the facts. Chicago had less than 200 yards of total offense in the game, with rookie Caleb Williams completing only half of his passes (16-30) for just 120 yards. New England, on the other hand, rushed for 328 yards, one touchdown and four field goals.
What on earth was Belichick going to say? Should he have praised the Patriots' new quarterback Drake Maye for going 15-25 with 184 yards, one touchdown and one pick?
It's easy to understand the frustration. The Patriots have spent 20 years at or near the top of a mountain, and now they're sitting at sea level looking up at everyone else (except the Bears, apparently). It's good that they won, but there's no need for Belichick or anyone else to act like it's no mean feat, especially since Chicago is objectively awful offensively.
It's not revenge. That's just a fact.
