Charles Manson, the hippie cult leader who masterminded one of Hollywood's most gruesome murders, confessed to more murders before becoming leader of the Manson Family cult, a new documentary about Peacock reveals. The video is featured in a chilling audio clip.
The confession was featured in a teaser for the new series, “Making Manson,'' in which Manson can be heard speaking from his prison phone about his time south of the U.S. border.
“There are parts of my life that no one knows about,'' Manson says. says in the clip. “I lived in Mexico for a while and I went to Acapulco and stole some cars.
“I just got into a bit of a headache, dude,” he continued. “I got involved in some murders. I left a .357 Magnum behind in Mexico City and some dead people on the beach.”

The documentary series will premiere on streaming service Peacock on November 19th.
Manson was convicted in 1971 of nine murders, including the 1969 murder of then-pregnant actress Sharon Tate.
Prosecutors said he was trying to incite a race war, but the idea appeared to have come from a misreading of the Beatles song “Helter Skelter.”

The Manson murders were brutal and horrifying. Tate, who was 26 years old at the time of her death, was stabbed and hung from the rafters in her living room. The intruders used the victim's blood to write the word “pig” and also misspelled “helter skelter.”
Although Manson did not carry out the murders himself, he was a master at convincing others to kill on his behalf.

Members of the Manson Family (referred to as his followers) massacred five of the victims on August 9, 1969. Tatecoffee heiress Abigail Folger, celebrity hairdresser Jay Sebring, Polish film director Wojtyk Frykowski, and estate manager friend Stephen Parent. The next night, a wealthy grocery store owner and his wife, Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, were stabbed to death in their home across town.
A petty criminal who had been in and out of prison since childhood, Manson was surrounded by fugitives and other lost souls during the heyday of California's hippie movement in the '60s. Even though he was in his mid-30s, Manson began gathering followers, mostly women, who likened him to Jesus Christ. Most were teenagers, and many were at odds with their families.

The “family” eventually established a commune-like organization based at the Spahn Ranch outside Los Angeles, where Manson drugged his followers, supervised orgies, and subjected them to bizarre lectures. .

Manson was arrested three months after the murder. After a trial that lasted nearly a year, Manson and three of his followers, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Leslie Van Houten, were found guilty of murder and sentenced to death. Another defendant, Charles “Tex” Watson, was later convicted. All were spared the death penalty and sentenced to life in prison after the California Supreme Court struck down the death penalty in 1972.
Manson died of natural causes at a California hospital on November 19, 2017, while serving a life sentence. He passed away at the age of 83.
