“The Voice” season 11 winner Sundance Head was gunned down Friday at his ranch in East Texas.
The country music singer suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and called 911 himself, according to a statement obtained by Fox News Digital from Sundance representative Trey Newman. He was then airlifted to a hospital in Tyler, Texas.
“This was clearly an accident; the bullet did not hit any vital organs, but lodged in the fatty area of the stomach.” [and] Pending further updates, there is no need for surgery at this time,” the statement said.The cause of the shooting was not disclosed at this time.

In 2007, Sundance made it to the semifinals of “American Idol.” In 2016, the musician appeared on Blake Shelton's team “The Voice” and won the contest show.

On Friday, the Sundance player's wife Misty shared an update on his condition on her Facebook account and thanked fans for “all their prayers.”
“I just got a call from the doctor. The bullet went into my belly button and into my abdominal wall, missing all my vital organs. There is no need for surgery as the bullet will not be removed,” she wrote on social media. “I'm sure she said why, but my head is in a fog right now. It's a good thing he was on the big side. The bullet is in his fatty tissue. To all the prayers appreciate.”
