The catcher, who played 12 years in MLB, said he received hate mail for “voicing my opinion.”

“God forbid professional athletes stand up for what they believe in,” he wrote. “That's part of the problem. Some people are too sensitive and emotional to listen to those who have reached the pinnacle of the sport and other top-level people. [Elon Musk] And how much hate he receives from the other side. ”

Lucroy added that most MLB players have conservative views and the league wants them to keep them private.

“I'm not politically correct,” he said. “If I said over 90% of American-born MLB players are conservative, you could take that to the bank. We're told to stay neutral, so we just don't speak up. I'm not going to remain neutral anymore.”

“I'm stubborn and headstrong. I know what it took to play 10 years in MLB, and I know the character traits that define greatness from the best players I've ever worked with. I've seen it first hand. I don't care what you are.'' I'm thinking about my children, my family, my God, and my country.

Lucroy recently appeared on “Outkick the Morning” and explained to Charlie Arnolt what happened after his post on X about refusing to take a knee received a lot of attention.

Before talking about the season being shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, when racial tensions escalated over the murder of George Floyd, Lucroy said, “I don't want to specifically criticize the team.'' , I don't want to do that. That's not what I'm doing.” .

“But in general, you know the teams they fall to, they don't want you to get political, they don't want you to be politically polarized. They just want you to stay neutral and shut up.

“But the problem is, I was on a team that told them to kneel for the national anthem. And I pointed the finger at them, and I said, 'No, I would never do that. Never. , never, never. You're not going to make me. You have nothing… I wouldn’t do that.

“We were told by our team to get the vaccine, and if we didn't get the vaccine, we couldn't see our families for three months. That's what the CDC notified MLB, and then MLB But it wasn't the team's fault. But kneeling during the national anthem was a big issue for me. That got me really interested in the culture wars that we're fighting. ”

Lucroy spent the 2020 season with the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies.
