Trump Wants to Use the Military Against Me

Sen.-elect Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Sunday on CNN's “State of the Union” that President-elect Donald Trump wants to use the U.S. military against him.

Host Jake Tapper said, “President-elect Trump has repeatedly called you the enemy from within, especially you and Speaker Pelosi. And he said this about the enemy from within. Listen.

“I think the bigger problem is the people inside. We have some very bad people. We have sick people and radical left-wing lunatics; And I think that should be dealt with very easily by the National Guard if necessary, or by the military if really necessary, because they can't allow that to happen.”

Mr Tapper asked: “Do you think he was talking about using the military against you, and how concerned are you about retaliation?”

“Obviously, that's what he was talking about,” Schiff said. “Will he work with the military to carry out what is essentially some kind of unconstitutional order? I don't think the military has any more independence than that.” Historically, the military has stood up to civilian authorities when they suggested unconstitutional actions, as they did in the first administration. I'm not going to be intimidated by what I say or do. If it were me, I wouldn't be on your show. I'm going to do my job and get things done first and foremost in the Senate. I look forward to working with him on the other side of the aisle to try to get things done and to fight prices. I will protect the nation if they try to abuse their power. I will protect the rights and liberties of the American people. So, yeah, that's what he said. “But I'm not going to be intimidated.”
