Sunday's match kansas city chiefs, buffalo bills It took another big play from Josh Allen to knock out Patrick Mahomes and company.
And they figured it out.
With just over three minutes remaining and the Bills holding a 23-21 lead over the Chiefs, they had to make a critical decision. Faced with a 4th-and-2 at Kansas City's own 26-yard line, head coach Sean McDermott had the choice of making a 43-yard field goal try that would have given the Bills a potential five-point lead, or leaving Allen on the field. I was forced to decide whether to try the fourth run or not. Try it down.
He trusts his quarterback, and Allen rewarded that trust with perhaps the best play of the year.
When the Bills ran a mesh concept and the receiver crossed underneath, Allen fell into the pocket. But with the Chiefs covering those routes well, Allen tucked the football, turned upfield, and easily picked up a first down.
But Allen didn't stop there, rushing into the end zone for a touchdown that Jim Nantz, who was in the CBS Sports booth, called “the play of the year.”
He may have a point.
Let's take another look at Allen's heroics.
Kansas City had a chance to fight back, but Terrell Bernard intercepted Mahomes' throw on 4th-and-13, clinching the win for Buffalo.
The Bills-Chiefs rivalry has brought some great moments over the past few seasons, but Allen's Superman effort may be the best yet.
Especially if you're a Bills fan.
