Texans vs. Cowboys ‘MNF’ player props, odds: Joe Mixon to shine

The Week 11 edition of “Monday Night Football” will feature the Battle of Texas between the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys.

Injuries have diminished the chances of this matchup, but there's still a lot to work on in the player prop market.

Let's take a closer look at three player props you should add to your Monday Night Football card.

Joe Mixon First Half Touchdown (+145, FanDuel)

Running back Joe Mixon has been a revelation for the Houston Texans this season, as he is dominant on the ground and efficient near the goal line.

Mixon has scored in seven of the team's 10 games this season.

This hit rate is a big reason why his “anytime touchdown” odds are around -185. But you can get better odds by shortening his scoring window with a great matchup.

The Cowboys are 27th in touchdowns allowed to running backs, and the Texans are willing to feed Mixon in the red zone. He averages over three red zone rushing attempts per game.

Considering the Cowboys also rank 31st in rushing yards per game, we should see Mixon touch the ball early and often in this game. If he's successful, he'll likely find paydirt in the first half.

Cooper rush longest completion under 29.5 yards (-115, bet 365)

This season's Cowboys offense, centered around Cooper Rush under center, is far from explosive.

In the three times we saw him, he wasn't trusted to push the ball down the field, averaging just 26 air yards per game.

Due to a lack of downfield throws, he averages only 6 yards per attempt and completes at a meager 56%.

Next, factor in the matchup against a strong Houston secondary. The Texans rank third in passing yards per game and first in completion percentage.

Finally, CeeDee Lamb, the Rush's primary target and potential big-play threat, is stepping up for this matchup. Lamb is on the injury report with a minor back injury, but is still playing through a shoulder injury he suffered two weeks ago.

All of this points to another quiet night for Rush in the yardage department.

Eric Kendricks, over 8.5 tackles + assists (-110, DraftKings)

We're already envisioning a game scenario in which the Texans dominate on offense and sideline the Cowboys' offense.

That means there should be more opportunities for Cowboys defenders to rack up tackles.

Micah Parsons has been getting a lot of attention on this defense, but middle linebacker Eric Kendricks is the player who has been playing most of the games this season. Kendricks has recorded at least nine tackles and assists in seven of 10 games this season, averaging 10 tackles per game.

This is a high-volume play and Kendricks has proven to be a high-volume tackle.

He will be heavily involved in trying to contain Mixon, but will also be in the middle of the field to wrap crossing routes from receivers.
