Popular TikTok account Libs was among those who pointed out the change. Posted A screenshot of her account including the “girlfriend” designation and a screenshot after removing it.
“The whole 'story' of removing pronouns after the election is a lie.”
Some interpreted this to mean that Ocasio-Cortez was quietly withdrawing her support for the extremist LGBTQ+ agenda following the disastrous election result. Others ridiculed her for appearing to betray the cause.
On Saturday, she denied the allegations in a social media post and offered a different explanation.

“I had to swap the endings because there weren't enough characters. Run the timeline and see for yourself,” she added.
The controversy only further highlighted recent criticism from the left that Ocasio-Cortez is gradually moving away from the far left and seeking to join a centrist party in her quest for more power and influence. . In October, the Democratic Socialist Party of America announced that it would vote to censure her because her Congressional voting record lacked sufficient anti-Israel stances.
Others blame the Democratic Party's crushing defeat in this election on the transgender issue, which has eroded support from moderate and centrist voters.
