Katie Couric rips Kamala Harris for word salad responses in campaign interviews: ‘Answer the godd— question’

Katie Couric has slammed Vice President Kamala Harris for not responding in various interviews leading up to the presidential election.

On Thursday's podcast, “Katie Couric's Next Question,” the veteran broadcaster had an extended post-election conversation with MSNBC host and longtime Democratic Party spokeswoman Jen Psaki, discussing Harris' “better interviews.” ” I think one of them was an interview on Fox News. Sit down with Brett Baier.

“I always find that people do better when they're asked really challenging, pointed questions. I've always felt that way about Hillary Clinton.” Couric said. “If you're giving them these almost weird, amorphous softballs, it's really hard to hone your message and be concise and say what you really need to say.”

I felt that way too, but I'll think about it again. [Harris] “Jen did really well in a lot of areas, but sometimes it was frustrating that she couldn't answer questions really succinctly,” Couric continued.

“For example, when she was asked about changes to the Supreme Court at a CNN town hall, she had an opportunity to talk about things like ethics. [Supreme Court Justices Samuel] “Alito and Clarence Thomas were talking, and she would give one-word answers and then go on to say something completely unrelated to the question,” Couric said. Ask me a question!”

She then turned the conversation to Harris' now-infamous comments on “The View,” where she was asked what she would do differently than President Biden, calling it “one of the most harmful things.” said.

“Okay, Jen, you're an insider. Why didn't Joe Biden say, 'Listen, I know you have to stay out of this administration. 'Let's talk about the range,' and the speed of God,''' Couric wondered. “Because I think someone wrote that it's like they're more afraid of hurting Joe Biden's feelings than they are of winning the election.”

Psaki, who served as Biden's press secretary before joining MSNBC, responded that it has been a “unique and painful summer” for Biden and that there was a “fragility” in being excluded from the Democratic Party. Ta. He also noted that Biden was “loved” by the party when he left office, and that Harris “navigated party politics in a very tricky way.”

“If I were to run for president, Jen, I would sit down with my brain and say, 'Okay, let's answer the question. What do I say?'” Couric said. .

“And I would carry a template with me to every interview and review it and say, 'This is what I believe and this is how I would approach the interview.' Questions like that. Now, why didn't they do that? It seems like it wasn't done, am I crazy?'' she wondered.
