Olivia Dunn turned Paul Skeens into a meme over his stoic reaction to being named the 2024 National League Rookie of the Year.
After the Pirates ace's somewhat emotionless demeanor during Monday's MLB Network announcement went viral online, Dunn posted a meme featuring Skens that has since been deleted.
“Paul Skeens is happy,” the post read, repeating the same somber snapshot of Skeens six times. “Paul Skeens is sad. Paul Skeens is angry. Mr. Paul Skeens is surprised. Paul Skeens is annoyed. Paul Skeens gets ROTY.”
It's unclear why exactly the post was removed from Dunn's Instagram Story. This meme originally appeared on the MLB on Fox Instagram page.
The LSU gymnast posted a video on TikTok of her and Skeens reacting to their ROTY win while sitting together on a leather couch.
“But why is this such an awkward exchange? LOL,” one person wrote in the comments.
“Oh, oh, I was so nervous.” Dan answered.
“ROTY killing,” she captioned the post.
Some thought the interaction between Dunn and Skeens was a bit awkward, as the MLB All-Star appeared calm while Dunn reacted enthusiastically, clapping and smiling.
A video posted by MLB showed Dunn shaking Skens' shoulder with a somber expression on his face.
Dan also shared a snapshot of a smiling Skenz holding a cookie cake that read, “Congratulations to Rookie and Cookie. ROTY.”
The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, 22, looked stunning in a red minidress.
Skeens, also 22, looked dapper in a gray suit jacket and beige pants.
His big night came just days after the Pirates put out an open call for one lucky person to find a Paul Skeens MLB Debut Patch Trading Card.
The National League franchise made an offer worth millions of dollars on social media Friday, including a seat behind home plate for 30 years. Then Dunn upped the ante by adding the opportunity for the collector to sit with her in the suite during the game.
Skeens and Dunn met in college at LSU, where they both won national championships in their respective sports.
Skeens helped the Tigers win a title in 2023, and the Pirates selected him with the first overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.
The right-hander started 23 games and posted an 11-3 record with a 2.96 ERA.
Dunn and the Lady Tigers won the gymnastics program's first NCAA title in April.
