Thanksgiving is approaching, and Americans across the country are preparing to break bread, drink wine, and bask in gratitude for their loved ones. But not all Americans are ready to share their love.
Instead, some people are canceling Thanksgiving festivities altogether based on who their loved ones voted for. And celebrities like The View's Sunny Hostin are rooting for them.
Sarah Haines said in a heated debate with Hostin on Liberal TV: “I would never let politics keep me from seeing my family, because they're not always there.”
“I disagree,” Hostin replied. “I really feel that this candidate, President-elect Trump, is a completely different type of candidate. Given what he's said, what he's done, and what he's going to do, it's more of a moral thing to me. It is a serious problem.”
“I think this is a moral issue for other people,” she continued. “So when people feel like someone voted against not just their family, but against them and their loved ones, I think it's okay to be deterred.”
Whoopi Goldberg, in her infinite wisdom, then agreed with Hostin and said, “People who say my child is wrong because of how they feel are allowed to be who they are.'' It tells me I shouldn't do it.'' Now that I have your permission, I would like to ask you a question. ”
“I don't want to put my child in that position. I don't want to put my gay child in that position with someone who doesn't understand him and just feels okay to come out.” I don't want to put myself in a position where I have to sit with them,” Goldberg added.
Dave Rubin of the Rubin Report isn't surprised they chose this path, but he wholeheartedly disagrees.
“Thanksgiving is approaching, and that's when we sit here in America with our friends and family, eat and drink, celebrate our freedom, and give thanks for all the blessings this great country has given us.” It’s time to do it.’ It’s been around for about 250 years,” Rubin says.
“Unless you're on 'The View,' in which case you shouldn't invite anyone you like and you'll probably ruin everyone's day,” he added.
