Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) will replace Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who was selected by President-elect Trump to be Secretary of State, and Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) He said he would choose Trump. state.
“I think Lara Trump is the right person to replace him. It will be difficult to replace him. I met her when she worked at E Network. She is a hard worker. is committed,” Scott said in an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill” on Tuesday.
“If you look at what she's done at the RNC this election cycle, she's done a great job on election security and making sure we get to vote. She's going to be a great partner. I think so and I'm looking forward to working with her,” the Florida coach told anchor Blake Berman.
Mr. Scott previously endorsed Mr. Lara to replace Mr. Rubio shortly after he was nominated.
He encouraged Gov. Ron DeSantis to select a Republican National Committee co-chair to represent the Sunshine State.
“This is an important decision. He will choose Lara Trump because he knows she is clearly qualified,” Scott said.
“She is someone who is welcome in the state of Florida and someone who has the potential to win the election she has to run in two years.”
Lara said he hasn't yet spoken to DeSantis but would fill the seat “if asked.”
Since taking office, Mr. Rubio has come under fire from colleagues for not coming to the Capitol to vote on Tuesday, which allowed Democrats to make last-minute judicial appointments in the final hours of his administration.
