The Post's Joseph Staszewski explores the world of professional wrestling in his weekly Post Match Angle.
Roman Reigns delivers one of the most interesting chapters in the Bloodline story with his well-timed intentions, hilarious laughs and slight pause before uttering the words “Call the wise men.” may have been set.
Reigns seemed more than happy to make the call to get Wiseman back and complete his lineage again, just as Heyman has done throughout this storyline. It made the moment when Heyman's line was disconnected even more painful and alarming for Reigns, causing a lot of questions for the audience.
Is Heyman actually mad at Reigns? Was he too distraught to pay the phone bill?
Heyman's “tribal chief” left him to the wolves of Solo Sicoah, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu, who tried to keep The Bloodline together in Reigns' absence after WrestleMania. There's a reason he's mad at Reigns because he wouldn't respond to his calls. 40.
The same Wolves powerbomb hit Heyman through the announce table, but we haven't seen him on WWE TV since late June.
Did Heyman cut himself off from the world after that? Should Reigns try calling Paul E. Dangerously like Heyman's Zack Morris instead? Heyman was watching TV, but will he reconnect his phone?
How Heyman returns may be most important. You can hear how much the audience is into the pop song when Reigns calls for silence when his phone goes unanswered. Heyman is the one who might be able to truly convince Reigns to change.
He has been with Reigns since the start of this run in 2020 and remains the fiercest loyal to him.
Will he be the next person Reigns has to make amends on this journey of redemption – including Seth Rollins, who will likely be the fifth member of the Survivor Series team – or will Reigns be the next person he has to redeem himself on this journey of redemption? Do we just blindly come back to it when we need it?
With only two weeks left until Survivor Series, Reigns may have time to go find Heyman or make a heartfelt plea to him this week to bring him back to Rogers Center.
If Heyman returns at Survivor Series, could he deliver a blow to Cicor that would add insult to injury after Reigns' team wins? Will he be able to bring Ula Fara back to Reigns?
If Heyman comes back and Reigns doesn't have a fifth man on his team because Rollins doesn't return or is ejected before the match, will Wiseman bring in Brock Lesnar? Lesnar needs to have enough mutual respect for Reigns and Heyman to ask for help if WWE and TKO are ready to bring him back. But that feels like a distant story.
If Xicore's team wins and Heyman doesn't return, will Reigns be forced into an even more frantic search to find Wiseman before facing Xicore at the Royal Rumble for the title of Tribal Chief? ? Will Heyman ever attack Reigns?
Something more interesting could happen while we wait for Heyman's return, but it's more likely that we'll see a moment where the full OG bloodline comes together.
WWE posed a ton of questions on SmackDown, and the answers could be the most important of this act so far.
on the surface
Maybe I'm asking for too much too soon. Perhaps I don't appreciate some of the things we haven't seen before from the women of AEW during the Mercedes Mone and Chris Standlander feud. Mohn and Camille nearly ran the TBS Championship challenger over with his car, and Statlender pinned them both into a wall backstage – all of which we've seen in high-profile WWE feuds.
But the question remains whether they were done to hide the lack of a deeper story between Mone' and Statlander — for example, beefing up the special effects around the basic story of movement. etc. Maybe they're there to start laying the foundation for tension between Monet and Camille — even after four months of pairing up feels like too soon.
I believe Statlender and Mone could have a great match at Full Gear given the contrast in size and style, but the additional substance I thought Mone would bring to AEW's creative would get there. I feel like I'm missing something along the way.
ten count
Have you ever been more stressed about what's going to happen each time The New Day is set for a WWE celebration? It's the most fun and entertaining event ever Either a heartbreaking end to one of the factions, or a joyous moment where Kofi Kingston gets back on the same page with Xavier Woods, perhaps with the help of Big E (who fans still hold out hope of reaping the benefits) It is.
Naomi's counter off the top rope in her match against Nia Jax showed how much better Nia Jax has become in the ring. Naomi may have taken the lead, but it takes two to tango.
It was a bit of a shame that WWE didn't actually send Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens home with each other after the Undisputed WWE Champion hinted at it to SmackDown GM Nick Aldis. It would have added more to the already unconventional storytelling and could have further shown how unstable Owens is.
Ridge Holland defeated Andre Chase on Tuesday, and the breakup with Chase University isn't the worst thing for everyone involved. I feel like the story has come full circle and hasn't been pushed much. Also, I don't think he's a player who can play on the main roster.
Really dig Sean Spears leading his own faction. He seems very comfortable in the role and has already used it to earn a North American Championship match, which he feels will elevate Brooks Jensen and Nico Vance. .
The promo showdown between Kyle Fletcher and Will Ospreay was great. They explained their background and the smug Fletcher made it clear that what he was going to do was going to surpass everything the Ospreys had ever done. I was really intrigued to see what direction they would go with Full Gear.
I'm all for Bo Dallas finding a way to pay homage to Bray Wyatt through his character and Uncle Howdy, but the scenes we saw on Raw made him look eerily similar to his brother. I felt it. For now I'm conflicted whether that level of compliment is better than something more unique
Shinsuke Nakamura is back in what looks like the ruthless and aggressive US Champion LA Knight. Unlike last time, WWE needs Nakamura this time around – especially with his relationship with Pro Wrestling Noah – and it will be hard to take him seriously as a threat.
The International Women's Cup, announced late Tuesday for Wrestle Dynasty, is a great step forward for women's wrestling and cross-branding. It's also a great way to quickly acquire deserving new stars across all four promotions. I'd love to see Billy Strax or Julia Hart come out, and maybe Jamie Hayter could help get over the line on the AEW/ROH side.
For the record, Kurt Angle deserved a better retirement match than Baron Corbin, and Baron Corbin deserved a longer and more productive run as Thad Corbin.
Wrestler of the week
Harley Cameron, AEW
If used correctly, Cameron has a chance to become the babyface version of AEW's Chelsea Green. However, she has to be in front of a live audience for the promotion. As we saw during a fun promo for Rampage, she shows that she can legitimately sing and be in the ring after a great match with Mina Shirakawa. Cameron can bring the comedy that AEW shows are lacking.

match to watch
Jon Moxley (c.) vs. Orange Cassidy, AEW World Championship at Full Gear (Saturday, 8 p.m., Triller)
Moxley and Cassidy are at the center of the champion's “hard reset” in AEW, so everything that happens around this match is important. This will be Moxily's first title defense and Cassidy's first singles match at the World Championship. This match needs to be a bold statement because AEW can't afford to cower before this storyline begins.
