Thanksgiving is only a week away, which means the football going on right now is pretty serious (unless you're the Dallas Cowboys).
The picture for the NFL playoffs is starting to take shape, and which teams have a legitimate chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. On the other side of the coin, teams continue to fire people left and right…Today's NFL is full of teams from all walks of life.
At Michael Peterson and RJ Ochoa, this is where we come in, because it's our job to explain for you what you most need to know.
Welcome to this week's issue skinny post This is the place to do just that.
It's time to take the Broncos seriously, and I really didn't expect to be able to say that this season.
Michael:
Throughout the first few weeks of this season, I enjoyed the reality (at the time) that the Broncos were really bad on offense, mainly due to Bo Nix's inability to complete passes further than 10 yards down the field. there was. If they were winning games early on, it was because of their defense, which definitely deserves a lot of respect.
After a close loss to the Chiefs last Sunday and then a blowout of the Falcons, I think it's time to give them the attention they deserve, even if they're 6-5. Because at this point, I definitely would have picked them for a worse grade. The season is based on an early return in September.
The Knicks are throwing for touchdowns (down the field) and as long as the defense keeps that up, I think this team will secure the last wild card spot in the AFC.
RJ:、
As a resident player for the Dallas Cowboys, my life has always been filled with pain, but it also means Sean Payton has spent a lot of time preparing to coach them.
What's done is done, and I'm not here to rehash it, but needless to say, I was largely unimpressed with Payton's first year in Denver. To be fair, who was it?
I'm not 100% ready to say publicly that I believe he's worthy of being a coach. all For all the pomp and circumstance he's been put through while he's been out of the game, it's clear that what he's doing with the Broncos is working.
More specifically, it's very clear that Bo Nix is legitimately growing under him, which is the most impressive thing about Payton overseeing. The Broncos have been in the wilderness for the past decade or so, but it looks like they're finally almost on the other side.
Good for them!
Was the Bills' win over the Chiefs really noteworthy, or did nothing happen until the playoffs?
RJ:
To be honest, I don't think Josh Allen and the Bills put much effort into the game (and obviously the win) against Kansas City, at least for the most part. This is how it should be.
Was it big? Could it potentially be important in determining playoff seeding? Are these true? Completely.
Has the same thing been true before, but in the end it didn't matter? Yes.
The Bills understand that they're the little brother here, and even though they're the team to pull them off an unbeaten run, they didn't show up this season to win a game against the Chiefs in Week 11. It's refreshing to see.
Buffalo has one goal and one mission this year and seems focused on that. respect.
Michael:
I wish this win had more meaning, but I'm sure it's simply a parallel to many past seasons where the Bills beat the Chiefs in the regular season but lost in the postseason. are. So you can check the first box here in anticipation of the inevitable matchup in the playoffs.
Still, this win felt a little more meaningful than other regular season wins. Because A.) this Bills team was almost expected to take a step back after dealing with Stefon Diggs and letting Gabe Davis walk, and B.) the Chiefs were still strong. The 9-0 team had always found a way to win close games.
Big kudos to the Bills for overcoming a hurdle that the other nine teams couldn't this season.
Saints TE/QB Taysom Hill had a great day against the Browns, but I don't think people talk about it enough.
Michael:
Hill hasn't been much of a quarterback in recent years, so when you put his performance in the context of “he ran for 138 yards and three touchdowns on just seven touches as a tight end,” this is crazy. I don't think there will be any. World stat line. He also caught eight passes for an additional 50 yards. That's 88 yards of offense and three touchdowns on 15 touches from the 34-year-old tight end.
That's unreasonable. It's unbelievable. I don't know if something like this has ever happened in NFL history, and I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.
Am I crazy to think this is a bigger problem than the media is reporting? Or just me? who knows.
RJ:
Maybe we're just tired of Taysom Hill at this point? Is that what I think?
Don't get me wrong, I think this feat is impressive, but it's like we've seen this song and dance a million times already. Taysom Hill is amazing, unique, and all that jazz…but does it matter? Has it ever become important?
I'm in no way calling Taysom a gimmick, but this is just… fast and furious The franchise went to space.
Neat. Nice. nice. Anything.
What do you wish for your Cowboys team?
RJ:
Michael was kind enough to do the heavy lifting on this week's TSP for me while I was traveling to watch the Dallas Cowboys game on Monday night. I went with my dad and had a lot of fun. But obviously this team was terrible in every sense of the word.
Something that my dad and I were talking about that I wanted to get an outside opinion on…if you were another team…if you were another team…what you would trade the Cowboys for your team. Is there one? Do you have anything to exchange?
Your answer is probably CeeDee Lamb or Micah Parsons, which obviously makes sense, but I mean it in a broader sense. Nobody is going to replace the passing game, the running game, the offensive line, you get the idea. The Cowboys are one of the worst teams in the NFL, boring and everything stinks.
Please stop it.
Michael:
Honestly, if there's one thing I take away from the Cowboys, it's RJ Ochoa, their biggest fan. I want him to wear powder blue so we can hang out more together outside of working on The Skinny Post!
Okay, okay, hey Josinya.
If I have to get anything, I'd say give me the last few years of Zach Martin of the Chargers so I can nip this interior offensive lineman's problems in the bud. He'll be playing against Notre Dame's newest elite lineman in the NFL in Joe Alt, and they'll be his best buddies until he retires (R.J. and my team if he comes to this side). like).
no? Understood…
