The issue: President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Congressman Matt Gaetz to be attorney general.
The brilliant nomination of Matt Gaetz, a former Florida congressman and clown who once lived in the House, to be the country's attorney general is what many of us, including countless reasonable Republicans, think about President-elect Donald Trump. It confirmed my worst fears about Trump's victory ('Please, Mr. Trump, stop this terrifying duo', editorial, November 20).
Gaetz became a despised figure in the House Republican caucus after he blocked Kevin McCarthy's nomination for speaker, an act that shamed the Republican Party in front of the world because it required 15 votes. did. Certainly, there is no source of affection for him in either party in the Senate.
If Gaetz wins, Trump's tenure in office will be one of the greatest challenges the United States has ever faced. The wise move would be to withdraw the nomination and nominate someone serious and qualified.

If you're worried that Gaetz will destroy the Justice Department, I think Democrats are already doing that, and Gaetz might be the perfect person to rebuild the Justice Department.
This country is over the drain, and an overwhelming majority of Americans have given President Trump the mandate to save the country. We have an obligation to trust Mr. Trump's judgment.

Donald Trump's reprehensible and abominable nomination of Matt Gaetz to be Attorney General of the United States is just one of the many reasons why Trump's completely unwarranted re-election has become the worst disaster in American politics in recent years.
Gaetz possesses a level of moral turpitude rarely matched in the history of Congress. He is accused of trafficking underage teenage girls and having sex with some of them. Why wasn't he already expelled from Congress?

Personally, I like that Trump nominated Matt Gaetz to be attorney general.
Gates is being pursued by Democrats over controversial charges that he had a relationship with an underage girl. If Gaetz is identified as the suspect, investigators will be able to investigate further.
Gaetz is an attack dog, something the Trump administration desperately needs.
But I have one question. Why did he resign his seat in Congress before being confirmed?

Gaetz's resignation from the House likely means that the House Ethics Committee's investigation report into his conduct will no longer be made public.
But my own theory is that Gates is unlikely to be confirmed.

Yes: Gates is outspoken, and those who oppose him often take offense to his insulting honesty. But Gaetz is exactly what America needs to speak his mind clearly when dealing with both the political and legal issues of the day. If anyone could neutralize Merrick Garland's corrupt and weaponized Justice Department and FBI, it would be Gaetz.

Matt Gaetz as attorney general, are you kidding me? Who's next: Vladimir Putin to be National Security Adviser? Are we asking too much of our nation's leaders to be rational in their decision-making?
But we now know his choice. It's a man involved in credible allegations of having sexual relations with an underage girl. For now, we can only hope that cooler heads will prevail and Trump will be forced to reconsider his choices.

There are countless well-qualified, experienced, law-and-order Republicans who could easily become America's next attorney general.
Appointing Gates, who is under criminal investigation on charges of having sex with a minor and sex trafficking, to head the Justice Department is like appointing a fox to guard the chicken coop.
