Pharma Advertises to ‘Influence and Control’ Media

When asked by host Mike Slater what benefits pharmaceutical companies would gain by bombarding Americans with advertising, Pinsky said it was all about their influence and control over media companies. He said it was related.

“Once again, the influence of drug companies is at fault,” he said, noting that he has defended drug companies throughout his career. However, he said, “I rely on pharmacology because I use physiology to improve medical care.”

Pinsky also pointed out that the pipeline between regulators and big drug companies is exacerbating the whole problem.

“Well, for example, the cozy relationship between regulatory agencies, such as the FDA, and pharmaceutical companies. That's absurd. They know that's where they're headed and that's where the real money is,” he pointed out. “And of course they will be influenced by them.”
