On FNC's “Jesse Watters Prime Time” Tuesday, the incoming Trump administration's “border czar” Tom Homan responded to Democratic backlash to President-elect Donald Trump's deportation proposal.
Mr. Homan rejected the request for amnesty, arguing that the result would be a deterrent to illegal immigration.
“AOC says the answer is mass amnesty,” host Jesse Watters said. “I mean, that would save you a lot of work, but what do you tell her?”
“That's ridiculous,” Homan replied. “We're going to reward illegal activity. Rewarding amnesty will never fix our borders. This country has said over and over again that if there are no consequences, it will continue to happen. Reciprocating amnesty means that millions of people will come and say, “Hey, you can cross the border illegally.'' You may lose your case before an immigration judge, but you can still stay. And that's what people don't understand. People say mass deportations are bad. No, we just had a historic illegal immigration crisis along the border. Millions of people crossed the border illegally. ”
“All of them crossed the border illegally and committed crimes,” he continued. “If you look at immigration statistics, nine out of 10 people will receive a removal order. If we don't carry out the order, the order must be carried out. So what are we going to do? What do you mean, Jesse? Shut down the immigration court. There's no point in doing it anymore. Please remove the Border Patrol from the border because there will be no repercussions. The law is clear. We will give you your day in court. You're going to leave and we're going to make you leave.
