Harris, Walz to address top donors next week

Vice President Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), are scheduled to address her campaign's top donors in a phone call next week, people familiar with the plans tell The Hill. Ta.

The meeting took place weeks after Harris lost the 2024 presidential election to President-elect Trump. Trump won all seven battleground states, securing the popular vote and making gains in some Democratic strongholds.

Sources said the 2024 Democratic ticket will be discussed at the National Finance Committee on Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. ET.

“Your support and leadership made this campaign possible,” said Democratic National Committee (DNC) Treasurer Michael Pratt and Colleen Coffey. I look forward to the opportunity to express my gratitude for your partnership and support.” in an invitation to donors reviewed by The Hill partner NewsNation.

Harris' campaign broke fundraising records during her three-month campaign, raising more than $1 billion. But in the wake of Trump's defeat, the campaign's spending strategy has come under scrutiny, with the campaign reportedly racking up $20 million in debt.

Patrick Stauffer, chief financial officer for the Harris campaign, said earlier this week that there were no outstanding debts or past due invoices as of Election Day, and there were no debts in the DNC or HFP reports after the general report. It doesn't exist.''

Some Democrats are scrutinizing campaign spending options, including production costs associated with celebrity-filled events featuring Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey and other big-name stars. Some, along with allied super PACs, are calling for an audit of campaign spending.

“As part of the autopsy of this campaign, there should be an audit of all funds to understand what went right and what went wrong,” Democratic strategist Rodel Molyneaux said. . “When you lose, you question everything, but you shouldn't start by saying, 'All the money I spent was stupid money.'”
