Hey, it's Jason!
Jason Kelsey has joined the ranks of late-night TV hosts as the newest frontman for ESPN's “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelsey,” scheduled to premiere in 2025.
Super Bowl winner, 37, announces new job during appearance “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” On Thursday, the Philadelphia-based late-night talk show announced it would debut in January.
“I love late-night shows, always have. I remember having sleepovers with my friends watching Conan O'Brien,” the former Philadelphia Eagles center told Kimmel.
“We're going to have a lot of people, legends of the game, friends who played the game together, coaches, celebrities.”
The one-hour program will be recorded five consecutive times on Friday nights starting January 3rd. This date coincides with the final week of the NFL regular season and playoffs.
“It's going to be a celebration,” he added.
“They Call It Late Night” airs at 1 a.m. on ESPN and can also be streamed on ESPN+ and Kelsey's YouTube channel.
The show is named after the 1967 NFL movie, “They Call it Pro Football,” the first full-length feature film. It also pays homage to the origins of NFL movies, especially in Philadelphia.
The network has aired five episodes of the show so far, with the final episode set to air on February 1st. All episodes will be filmed in front of a live audience at Union Transfer in Philadelphia.
Although the show will not be broadcast in real time, it will feature some of the key aspects of classic late-night shows, including celebrity guests and interactions with live viewers.
Music will also be provided by SNACKTIME, Philadelphia's own live band.
NFL Films will produce the show in partnership with Kelsey's Wooderboy Productions and Skydance Sports.
Kelce is in the first year of a multi-year contract with ESPN.
Kelce joined ESPN this year after retiring from professional football in March and is working as an analyst on this season's NFL “Monday Night Countdown.”
The Kelce family quickly rose to fame after her brother, Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce, and pop icon Taylor Swift went public with their relationship last fall.
The brothers also co-host the popular podcast “New Heights,” and earlier this year they signed a massive three-year, $100 million deal with Amazon's Wondery Network for the show.
Kelce played his entire NFL career with the Eagles, earning six All-Pro selections and seven Pro Bowls.
He helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2018 and played against his brother Travis in 2023, when the Chiefs ultimately won the Super Bowl.
