Federal judge pushes back on parents calling trans athlete ‘a boy’ in legal battle over pro-girls protests

New Hampshire Judge Stephen McAuliffe presided over a case in which parents in New Hampshire wore pro girls' armbands to high school girls soccer games featuring transgender players. During the lawsuit, McAuliffe pushed back against parents who repeatedly referred to the athlete as a boy.

“You seem to be going out of your way to suggest that there are no such things as transgender women,” McAuliffe said during the hearing.

Mr. McAuliffe's federal judicial career dates back to 1992, when he was appointed by former President George H.W. Bush. On Thursday, McAuliffe sued the Bow School District after plaintiffs Kyle Ferrers and Anthony Foote were banned from school grounds for wearing wristbands at their daughter's soccer game in September. The trespassing order has since expired, but McAuliffe will allow the plaintiffs to wear wristbands and carry signs at future school events such as basketball games, swim meets and music concerts while the lawsuit continues. Deciding whether or not.

This is because he made the wristband mandatory, overriding the state law. Don't let that happen.

Fifteen-year-old Parker Tyrrell, a transgender athlete, was allowed to compete on behalf of Plymouth Area High School. in lawsuit Fellers and Foote allege in their complaint that school officials told them to remove their armbands or they would have to be removed from the game.

Both fathers claim the purpose of the armbands was not to protest Tyrrell, but to cheer on their daughter at a game featuring a biological male.

McAuliffe questioned the idea that the wristbands were supporting their daughters.

“Sometimes the message you think you're sending isn't actually the message you're sending,” he says.

McAuliffe asked Foote whether transgender people might interpret pink XX wristbands as an attempt to invalidate their existence.

“If he's a trans woman, pink might be his favorite color,” Foote said.
