Things became real.
A Utah real estate agent is warning parents to think twice before taking their children to an open house, sharing a heartbreaking story in which a little girl ended up being flown to the hospital.
Karina VanOrman shared a story on TikTok about a couple who insisted on bringing their three children to each house tour.
“The kids were running around the house watching it,” VanOrman said. on TikTok, which has over 66,000 views.. “Just like all children do. They look at the house and get bored. The parents observe every detail… and the kids look inside the house within two seconds. It’s like zooming.”
On one such occasion, while touring a home still under construction in South Ogden, Utah, the couple's 6-year-old daughter became enraged and nearly died.
“The family arrived early and was already looking around the garden and everyone was so excited,” VanOrman said.
“I saw their 6-year-old daughter run as fast as she could from the front of the house into the backyard, and I could see that she didn't realize the sliding glass door was closed,” Van Orman said. said and took a gulp. “I screamed, ‘Stop!’ But before she could stop herself, she ran straight through that glass door.”
According to House Maven, this glass was first installed in the '70s, so the glass didn't shatter, but when it did, it broke into large pieces.

“So she went through the glass door, and when she turned around, a huge piece of glass had just landed in her abdomen,” Van Orman recalled.
Van Orman told the girl not to touch the glass, but the girl completely panicked and pulled the pieces out of her stomach. In the process, she suffered a severe cut on her hand. A small child even suffered a head injury from the broken door.
As his shocked parents called for an ambulance, the quick-thinking mansion manager grabbed a blanket from the car and put pressure on his abdominal wound.
Paramedics quickly realized the girl's injuries were severe enough to require a trip to Salt Lake City Children's Hospital.
“I just had to be strong in that situation, and I had to try not to get shocked,” VanOrman recalled.
The Stetson-wearing real estate industry veteran said she sat in her car and “threw the ball” after the ordeal.
The 6-year-old girl miraculously survived, although several important parts of her body were narrowly missed by the glass.
VanOrman now advises clients not to bring young children on home tours.
“It was a hard lesson that I learned,” she concluded.
VanOrman said she eventually found her family a home that wasn't a fixer-upper, and they still live there.
