Majority Support Ending DEI Hirings in Government, Deporting Criminal Illegal Aliens

Most American voters support many of the policies touted by President-elect Donald Trump and his incoming administration, including eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) hiring practices in government jobs and Supports the deportation of illegal immigrants who commit crimes.

For example, the survey asked respondents whether they supported or opposed “ending race-based hiring for government jobs and returning civil servants to merit-based hiring.”

Overall, 61% support their elimination, with 39% saying they “strongly” support eliminating DEI hiring practices in government. Only 19% are against it. Notably, most Republicans and independents (80% and 54%, respectively) support eliminating these practices, as do 46% of Democrats.

The survey also found that 72% support “deporting illegal immigrants who commit crimes.” Of those, 52% “strongly” support it. There is bipartisan agreement on this as well, with 85% of Republicans, 70% of Democrats, and 70% of independents supporting deporting illegal aliens who commit crimes in the country.

When asked whether the federal government should close the border by “reinstating past immigration policies that deterred illegal immigration,” 64% of respondents said they supported it. Additionally, 58% said they supported “deporting illegal immigrants living here on welfare.” Of those, 38 percent “strongly” agree with the suggestion. Again, most Republicans and independents support it, too.

There is also extensive support for several other issues. When asked if the government should stop paying for sex reassignment surgeries for prisoners and illegal immigrants, 65% said they agreed. 50% of them “strongly” agree. 84% of Republicans, 63% of independents, and 48% of Democrats also agree.

The survey also asked respondents what their biggest expectations are for the incoming Trump administration, and found that a large majority (68%) want the Trump administration to end inflation and price increases.

The survey was conducted Nov. 13-14 among 1,732 registered voters. There is a margin of error of +/-2.3%.
