Attempted Murder Suspect Released Without Bail

A man accused of fatally shooting a FedEx employee in a Hub parking lot has been released without bail, even though the local district attorney asked the court to hold him in custody.

Tyrese Earnest, 18, was charged with attempted second-degree murder after fatally shooting a FedEx employee in the parking lot of a distribution center in Memphis, Tennessee, according to reports.

Earnest was being held on $200,000 bail, but a judge ruled last week that the suspect be released without bail on his own recognizance.

“The details of the alleged crime, the fact that the victim was ambushed, and the violent nature of the crime lead us to believe that this suspect is a threat to public safety,” Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy said in a statement. ” he said.

WREG It was reported that Ja Marcus Odell and Ja Marion Odell, twin brothers accused of being Ernest's co-conspirators, remain in jail on $80,000 bail.

Jamarion O'Dell admitted driving Ernest and his brother to the scene of the crime, and the two were charged with aiding and abetting an attempted crime, a Class A felony.

State Sen. Brent Taylor criticized the prosecutor's office and staff for not doing more to keep the suspected shooter behind bars.

” [assistant district attorney] In this case, it was as weak as a kitten's meow,” Taylor posted on X. “The ADA would have been just as effective as sitting as a spectator and watching what happened.”

Taylor went on to send a letter to the District Attorney requesting that a writ of cert be filed in this matter.

He also released audio of the hearing in which Earnest was granted bail-free release.

Mr. Earnest is scheduled to appear in court again on November 26th.th.
