Watts was “completely shocked” by the decision not to give the film a full theatrical release, and asked streaming services to “please refrain from posting news that I am writing a sequel.”
“They ignored my request and announced it in a press release anyway, which seemed to create a positive direction for the streaming axis. So I quietly returned the money they gave me for the sequel.” he continued. “I didn't want to talk about it because I'm proud of the film and didn't want to generate unnecessary negative press.”
