Grammy Nominee Adam Anders Finds Purpose in Faith-Based Films, Says ‘God’s Been Molding Me’

Grammy-nominated music producer best known for his hit television series Glee His 2023 faith-based project marks a turning point in his career, and he says he feels led by God to create entertainment that shines a light on dark cultures. “This movie completely changed my life and put me on a completely different path,” Anders told Crosswalk Headlines.

“My beliefs guide everything I do,” Anders said. “I've lived in LA for 20 years, where I've made films, learned craft, and tried to be salt and light.”

“We need a film that shines a light into this darkness,” he said. “It's really rewarding to see how many non-believers find this movie and say it changed their lives. That's why I made this movie.”

Anders grew up in a religious family.

“My parents were in the ministry full-time, traveling the world in evangelism and music ministry, and that really shaped my mission in life. No, I want to go outside of the church and reach the mainstream,'' he said. “That's why I was living in Hollywood, creating content there and learning there. That's the real reason I chose Hollywood.”

Anders is working on two upcoming projects. One is a thriller and the other is a musical. He also celebrates its influence. Journey to Bethlehemwas nominated for a Dove Award.

“I had an idea [for the movie] Because I was home with my family for Christmas 17 years ago. I wonder, “Why isn't there anything we can watch as a family that shows us why we celebrate Christmas?” So God planted the idea a long time ago and it took 17 years to actually make it happen. I had to learn how to make movies.

“…When you take a Bible story, it’s like a hornet’s nest and a lot of people might attack you for that, but God gave me this vision. I had to stick to it,” Anders added. “And the vision was to make this a movie that grandparents and parents and children, believers or not, could sit down and watch and enjoy and be pointed to whether they believed it or not.” And music has a very powerful power to achieve that and break down defenses. That's why I wanted to make it into a musical. Because great music attracts people. “I’ve seen it before.

“While directing this film, I felt I had found my calling,” he said. “Because my career has always been music. I've been very blessed with a great career, but to make a big change and walk away from that career and take a risk like this, I don't know if it's really going to happen.” I didn't know if it would work or not, but by the time it did, it was clear to me that this was what I was trying to do. I think it was a great thing for God to shape me and teach me. What should I do with this? ”
