Actor Joel Grey Compares Trump to Nazi Regime from ‘Cabaret’ in New York Times Op-Ed

cabaret star Joel Gray compared Donald Trump's incoming second administration to the early Nazi regime dramatized in the hit Broadway musical and its film adaptation. The actor even suggests that American Jews are currently in danger, despite President Trump's proven pro-Israel record.

in new york times Editorial Joel Gray, published on Sunday, sought to stir up fear and anxiety about Trump by comparing him to Germany's Third Reich.

“The recent election of Donald Trump to a second term has left many Americans feeling exhausted and disillusioned, especially those who have fought hard against the forces of authoritarianism and hate,” he wrote.

“We've seen this show before, we know how it ends, and there's a sense that we're powerless to stop it. Worse, even if… The feeling that even though we are facing dark times, it does not really affect our own daily lives is a feeling that so many European Jews had in the 1920s and '30s. reflects a tragically short-sighted assessment.”

cabaret The film is set in Berlin, a few years before World War II, when the Nazi Party was beginning to rise to power. In the musical, Gray played the host of a Kit Kat club where debauchery was an escape from the political realities of Weimar Germany.

“We've certainly seen this show before, but we're afraid we know how it ends,” the actor wrote in his times editorial. “It's understandable to want to retreat and find as much solace as possible, but we can't look away.”

As Breitbart News reported, President-elect Donald Trump won more than 40 percent of the Jewish vote in several states, citing support for Israel and a proven commitment to combating anti-Semitism. With his power, he broke through a seemingly insurmountable wall.

In New York, Mr. Trump won a historic share of the Jewish vote, with polls showing his approval rating among Jewish voters, traditionally a Democratic stronghold, rose to 43%.

Gray's op-ed does not mention the surge in anti-Semitism in Democratic-controlled American cities and universities in the wake of the Oct. 7 massacre of Israelis by Hamas. Anti-Israel activists made numerous threats and acts of intimidation against Jewish students.

Since he first ran for the White House, the left has sought to smear Trump as a bigot, a racist, and the second coming of Adolf Hitler. However, most of their claims are atlantic ocean Magazine — That's no longer true for American voters, who have known from President Trump's first term that he is none of these things.

With his Nov. 5 victory, Trump saw a historic increase among minority voters, particularly Latino voters. He also doubled his support among young black men.
