Dan Hurley has a habit of harshly criticizing people involved in the show. university university The Huskies are on their way to back-to-back national championships in men's college basketball. On Monday, the referee finally gave Hurley the last laugh, and it cost his team the game.
In the opening game of the Maui Invitational, the Memphis Tigers defeated UW 99-97 in overtime. Memphis led by 13 points with just four minutes left in regulation time, but the Huskies fought back to force overtime with clutch shots from freshman Liam McNeely and sophomore Solo Ball. The fireworks really started in extra time.
With about 40 seconds left, University had the ball tied at 92 points. Star forward Alex Karaban missed the go-ahead 3-pointer. McNeely attempted an offensive rebound past a Tigers defender, but the referee called an over-the-back foul. Hurley lost his mind and was given a rare technical foul by the referee. Watch Harley's outburst here.
Memphis guard P.J. Carter made four straight free throws, two on technical fouls on Hurley and two on fouls on McNealy, all for downs. It was a ballgame.
The offensive fouls charged against McNeely are as follows:
Hurley, as usual, was the referee throughout the game. The referees allowed him to get away with it before attacking him in crunch time and changing the course of the game.
Hurley lashed out at the referee after the game. See his comments here.
Dan Hurley's thoughts on today's host:
“There were a lot of problems with what happened. That over-the-back call… there was a Memphis player who gave a half-hearted effort, Liam McNeely high-pointed the rebound, and that call… To be done…it was a complete joke, I might have lost… pic.twitter.com/w5AxFsZF5d

“It was a complete joke that that call was made at that point in the game,” Hurley said of the behind-the-scenes call to McNeely.
Hurley also refused to accept responsibility for costing his team a victory. These are two amazing quotes.
Dan Hurley says @CBS Sports He doesn't feel his OT skills impact UConn's game.
“I think it was a stupid call,'' he added, “I was expecting to come play in the event, but I don't know many national championship teams that have been whistled like that.'' yeah” . ”

Hurley said he believes he got the T in OT not because he taunted the officials, but because he fell to the ground in disbelief at McNeely's over-the-back call.
He is also aware of how his actions happened.
“What I gave to the camera today was Oppenheimer,” Hurley said.
