After the death of her dog Shirley, Kaley Cuoco recalled the “excruciating decision” she had made to rehome her pet.
On November 24, Cuoco took to social media to announce the death of her beloved dog while explaining why she was rehoming it.
Cuoco said in the video that “honesty is important” and wanted to explain the circumstances of her return to her home. The actress is the founder of Oh Norman, whose mission is to “adopt dogs.” their website.
“Most people know that I had [Shirley] Years and years,” Cuoco began in a video uploaded to Instagram.

“All of a sudden you don't seem to see her anymore and you start getting a lot of questions about where she is. Because it's hard for me to just stop posting about a dog I've had since she was 6 weeks old.” 'Cause it doesn't look very similar,' she continued.

Cuoco explained that a “huge fight” between Shirley and her fiancé Tom Pelphrey's dog ultimately led to the rehoming.
“Simply put, as you all know, she is a very special dog to me. And when the love of my life came into my life, Tom, who is also a huge dog lover, – Moved across the country with Shepard. Blue.
“A few years ago, unfortunately, Blue and Shirley started having a huge fight,” Cuoco continued.
“I loved her so much, but I was really scared. I didn't want something really bad to happen or for people to accidentally be there and get hurt.”
The Big Bang Theory actress explained that Shirley was “determined to kill” Blue. She said that Shirley also participated in other dog fights, except for Cuoco's other dog, Norman, whom she grew up with.
She also said Shirley was a “very friendly dog” who enjoyed being around other people and family. Ultimately, Cuoco decided to re-home the dog due to “the way he was doing.”
“I loved her so much, but I was really scared. I didn't want something really bad to happen or for people to accidentally be there and get hurt,” she said.
Cuoco adopted the dog with her owner Tony and his wife Angie, who were caring for Shirley on her behalf.

“They loved her very much and this was an excruciating decision,” Cuoco continued.

Cuoco said rehoming Shirley was “an important decision to make as a family” and that she feared being “judged” for her decision. But Cuoco and Pelfrey believe they made the right decision.
The actress explained that Shirley recently passed away from “a very aggressive bone cancer.”
“She's almost 14 years old, and it's an incredible life for a dog,” Cuoco said tearfully. “And I just wanted to share her story and what we need to do.”
Along with the video, Cuoco posted a photo of herself and Shirley on her Instagram Story. She turned off the comments section on her first post.
