Juan Soto teased fans with an official announcement that had nothing to do with his free agency decision.
The All-Star outfielder has received hundreds of millions of dollars in offers from the Yankees, Mets and other big players, but energy drinks keep him off the market.
Soto, 26, wrote on Instagram, including a video from the press conference announcing his joining Celsius as a brand partner on Tuesday. “What? Were you waiting for another announcement?”
Fans were hoping Soto would announce where he would take his talents next season after last month's World Series appearance with the Yankees, who fell short to the Dodgers.
Many believe Soto will decide to sign his next big contract around the time of the winter meetings, which begin Dec. 8 in Dallas.
The Mets have Steve Cohen, the richest owner in sports, but the Yankees have the advantage of familiarity since Soto dons pinstripes in 2024.
“Let's see what happens.” Cohen said On Monday, he was attending an event at the TGL Golf League's New York Golf Club. “We had a great team last year and we expect the same this year.”

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, who won his second American League MVP award last week, met with Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner on Friday in Tampa, where they both live, and said he wants Soto to return to the Bronx. He clarified.
Soto heard chants of “re-sign him” from Yankees faithful last season.

The judges enjoyed it too, as seen in superstar smile video In the outfield in August.
