“I have said many times that a good deal is an enforceable agreement, and we will enforce it,” Netanyahu said in a speech.

If the deal is fully agreed on Wednesday, a general ceasefire will come into effect immediately. Prime Minister Netanyahu noted that the sustainability of the agreement depends on Hezbollah's actions.

“The duration of the ceasefire will depend on what happens in Lebanon,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in his speech. “With the full understanding of the United States, we maintain full military freedom of action. If Hezbollah attempts to break the agreement and arm itself, we will attack.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu said there are three reasons why Israel is ready to accept a ceasefire agreement at this time. One is to give the Israeli military time to recover. The second is to isolate Hamas from Hezbollah. Third, it allows Israel to focus on the Iranian threat.

The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah marks a significant reduction in the conflict in the Middle East. Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel in response to Hamas' attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in the killing of approximately 1,200 people. Israel has since gone to war with Hamas and engaged in cross-border skirmishes with Hezbollah, and the turmoil has intensified in recent months.

Although the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has largely ended, tensions in the region remain high. Israel and Hamas have not yet agreed to a ceasefire despite multiple rounds of negotiations mediated by the United States and other Arab countries. Gaza has been caught in the crossfire of war and has been destroyed as a result, leaving the Palestinians living there in dire straits.

Israel and Iran have also been at direct war in recent months, with each side launching drones and missiles into the other's territory. Israel's latest attack against Iran in October appeared to deter Tehran from further attacks for the time being.
