A man was slashed in the arm on a Manhattan subway during Tuesday morning's rush hour. It came hours after a teenage boy was stabbed in the abdomen in an unrelated traffic collision.
The 28-year-old victim was standing on the southbound M train platform at 42nd Street in Bryant Park around 9 a.m. when a scuffle with another straphanger escalated into violence, police said.
Authorities said the male suspect slashed the victim in the arm before boarding an incoming train.
He is described as having medium skin, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, and wearing a black hat, beige shirt, and green jacket.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.
It was not immediately clear what sparked the morning transportation fight.
In a separate act of violence Monday afternoon, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed on a southbound M train at the Court Square 23rd Street station, authorities said.
According to police, the boy got into an argument with a man, believed to be in his 20s, and suddenly stabbed him in the stomach with a knife around 12:30 p.m.
The boy was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.
The suspect, dressed all in black, fled after the attack, but has not been arrested.
The circumstances that led to the collision are also unclear.
