Florida TikTok influencer arrested for stealing at Target: police

a TikTok influencer A man was arrested Wednesday after stealing about $500 from a Target in Florida last month, police said.

The Cape Coral Police Department said officers responded to the store at 1890 Northeast Pine Island Road in Cape Coral.

Employees told officers that a woman entered the store on Oct. 30, 2024, and grabbed multiple items that were on sale.

According to a police press release, the woman did not scan the product's barcode at the self-checkout register, but instead scanned a fake barcode with a lower price.

Sixteen items of household goods and clothing were stolen, valued at just over $500.

The Cape Coral Police Department posted photos of the suspect on its Facebook and Instagram pages to help identify the suspect.

An anonymous caller who saw the post said the suspect may be 22-year-old Marlena Velez, a TikTok influencer with nearly 300,000 followers.

Officers discovered Berreth's account, which contained a video of Berreth wearing the same clothing and glasses as the suspect seen on Target's video camera. Video showed her removing items from the Target on the same day the theft was reported and placing them in her car after leaving the store.

Cape Coral police determined Berreth was the same suspect who stole items on October 30th. Officers located Berreth and took him to Lee County Jail on suspicion of petty larceny.
