Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar called the Kamala Harris campaign's decision to use Liz Cheney as her surrogate a “serious blunder.”

Rep. Omar said, “Even if that's not your priority, it says something about where your priorities are.”

The Star Tribune reported:

Asked whether the Democratic ticket had been enough to rally support among progressives, she said she needed more activism, more policy signals and a deeper understanding of progressive priorities. “It's going to help us win.” The Harris-Waltz campaign could have listened more to the voices of Democratic voters, such as former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, who has been a vocal opponent of President Trump in states such as Wisconsin and Michigan. By hiring surrogates, he may have tried too hard to appeal to Republican-leaning voters.

Omar said it was a “huge mistake,” especially in Michigan, home to the Uncommitment Movement, a group that emerged during the presidential primary to pressure Democrats to end the war. Omar also participated in the sit-in after DNC organizers refused to allow Palestinians to speak on stage at the convention.

He said Mr. Cheney's campaign involvement with his father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, who was a major influence in the 2003 invasion of Iraq under President George W. Bush, sent the wrong message.

“For my generation and younger generations than me, you are the only person synonymous with war,” Omar said of Cheney. “Even if it's not your priority, it says something about where your priorities are.”

Polls show that Liz Cheney has hurt Harris' campaign in key states.

Conservative Brief reported:

A new poll conducted by Data for Progress shows that the former Republican lawmaker's decision to campaign with the vice president just days before elections in those two states has boosted enthusiasm for her among key demographics. was shown to have actually decreased.

“Nearly 3 in 10 independent voters in Pennsylvania have lost enthusiasm for Harris' campaign due to her support for Cheney,” the company said.

“Our polling shows that Pennsylvania independents were 18 points more likely to vote for Harris when campaigning on economic issues, but less likely to vote for Harris when campaigning against Cheney. In Michigan, independents are 7 points less enthusiastic, by 25 points. In both states, 70% of voters were 11 points more likely to vote for Harris, but in both states they were 7 points less enthusiastic about voting for Ms. Cheney. “They said Mr. Cheney's campaign had either no effect on their enthusiasm or a decrease in their enthusiasm,” the pollster said.

“Independents and Republicans in Pennsylvania and Michigan, the audiences Ms. Harris was trying to win support from, said by wide margins that the economy was the most important issue in their vote. It highlights why focusing resources on campaigning with Cheney in the final stages, rather than doubling down on Harris' message on economic issues, may have reduced enthusiasm for Harris among key voters. ” he said.
