Director D.J. Caruso on the ‘Powerful’ Biblical Message in Netflix’s ‘Mary’

Biblical stories often resonate deeply with audiences, but the director of Netflix's new film mary He says he was overwhelmed with emotion when he brought a particularly emotional scene to life. Film director DJ Caruso told Crosswalk Headlines that the scene was the Annunciation, in which the angel Gabriel visits Mary. The film will be released on Netflix on December 6th.

Caruso admitted to choking while holding the camera.

“Mary sits there and declares, 'Lord, let it be, let it be,'” Caruso said, “and the tears start rolling down her cheeks.”

“She made a decision right away to say, 'Yes, I'm all in, God. I'm all in. I'm with you 100 percent. I'm going to follow you.' ””

Netflix mary (PG-13) tells the story of Mary and Joseph, who overcome their holy calling and flee from the madman King Herod. The film stars Oscar-winning actress Anthony Hopkins as Herod, Noah Cohen as Mary, and Ido Tako as Joseph.
