Actress, producer and director Candace Cameron Bure believes that appearing in family films over the past 15 years has given her an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those who watch them. Bure, who became famous for his role as DJ Tanner on “Full House,'' said: christian post, “I aspire to make a movie like this every year. It's amazing to me that we've been making this movie for 15 years and people still watch it.”
“Sharing the gospel in movies and reminding people of the hope of Jesus is a source of inspiration for me and has given me new energy to continue making Christmas movies, not just as an actor. “I feel like there are other Christmas movies that I'm producing,” she added. “Sharing that in a story is really powerful for me and important in my faith journey and as a creator in the entertainment industry.”
In April 2022, it was announced that Bure would become chief content officer for Great American Family, leaving Hallmark Channel, where she has appeared in multiple films over the past 13 years. At the time, the actress shared her desire to be part of a network that puts God, family, and country above Hollywood-produced content.
“What I really appreciate about the Great American Family audience is that they want to see more than just two people falling in love, and they love that storyline. That being said, faith in God and its principles are This is the season when Christ was born to pay the price for our sins, sacrifice himself and die on the cross, and that he is the ultimate Savior of the world. “It's a gift,” she said.
“I want people to have fun, to sit on the couch and laugh and cry,” she continued. “But as the years have gone on, I've found myself wanting to find more meaning in these stories. That's what I appreciate about The Great American Family. We want content with conviction that reminds viewers of hope and joy.”
In her latest project, “A Christmas Less Traveled,” which premiered on Great American Pure Flix on Nov. 16, Bure plays a desi woman grieving the death of her father. Using the audio cassettes left behind by her father, she sets out on a road trip to remember her family's precious memories. Over the course of her journey, Desi befriends a charming stranger named Grayson, who accompanies her on her soul-searching journey.
“It's a very sweet, heartfelt, tear-jerking story,” Bure said. “It speaks to forgiveness, faith, and hope, a message that resonates deeply with Great American Family viewers.”
She will also be co-starring with longtime friend and co-star Cameron Matheson in Home Sweet Christmas, which opens on December 1st. The film centers on childhood friends Sophie (Bure) and Sam (Matheson) who reunite and renew their bond while managing the sales of their family's maple sugar plantation.
“It’s been a long time,” Bure said of working with Matheson. “Given our friendship, this feels like a natural storyline and I hope people like it.”
In addition to her films, Bure will also appear in the following productions: Great American Family Christmas Festival The event will include appearances by The Great American Family Christmas Star, screenings, ice skating, festive workshops and more.
“I've always loved creating experiences that bring people together,” she said. “This festival is another way to share the magic of the season.”
Bure told CP that his goals have changed over the course of his decades-long career, including starting his own production company, Candy Rock Entertainment.
“I've been acting since I was 5 years old, and acting was still my number one thing even into my 30s,” she said. “After that, my goals really changed. I wanted to be able to imagine the story I wanted to tell and help build it from the ground up. My beliefs are everything to me. That's who I am. It motivates us to put our energy into family and faith programming that serves underserved audiences. ”
“I have been involved in the family area throughout my career, but right now it is very important to me especially to put more energy into my family and my faith, and that is my goal and where I put my energy. “It's a place to be.”
Earlier this year, Candy Rock appeared in the award-winning film “The unsung heroThe film, which focuses on the Smallbone family, won awards for its appeal to audiences on a worldly level. Feature films of the year At this year's GMA Dove Awards.
“I love stories like that, because it's about people who don't necessarily share the Christian faith, or just… “It invites people who have doubts or are just curious about the Christian faith,” he said of the film. “It invites them into the space, just to see what it looks like, and it never scares them.”
The actress expressed optimism about the growing momentum of faith-based films, considering that faith communities are “underserved” in the entertainment context.
“It's so encouraging to see more inspiring stories being told,” she says. “I will continue to look for inspiring stories. I will continue to create stories and bring them to the big screen and small screen.”
