Facebook indefinitely suspended Smith & Wesson's account on Friday, and on Nov. 27, the famous firearms maker responded by praising Elon Musk's defense of free speech through the X platform.
smith & wesson account Posted on X: “Despite spending significant effort and resources to comply with Facebook’s ever-changing community guidelines regarding firearms, on Friday, November 22nd, 15 years after its initial creation, our account Suspended indefinitely.”
The gun maker posted the warning it received from Facebook on Friday, which simply said, “Your page has been suspended.”
Smith & Wesson added:In a time when free speech and the right to bear arms are under constant attack, we want to thank Elon Musk and X. Thank you for supporting free speech and the constitutional rights guaranteed by the First and Second Amendments. ”
Chad Robichaux, a Marine Corps veteran and Department of Defense contractor, used an X post to comment on Facebook's suspension from Smith & Wesson. write:
Facebook has removed one of America's most historic and iconic brands that have empowered and accountable people for more than 170 years. [sic] We've been informing millions of people on Facebook for 15 years. Public spaces like Facebook need to provide free and fair space in capitalist markets. These platforms operate under the privileges and protections of the USG as “public spaces.” If you want to function as an editor, you need to take on the responsibilities of an editor.
Robichaud added:Bring back S&W.”
