What I’m thankful for this year — and what I’m looking forward to next year

I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost here. This year has been packed with all kinds of events and latest news, and if you go about your week as usual, the year will fly by.

That's why it's nice to have this week's holidays to take some time to reflect on what we're grateful for and what we're looking forward to in 2025.

What I am most grateful for is being able to do field reports. When I joined Blaze Media in late April, I was only in the Dallas office for a few hours as I went to the airport for my first assignment. The first story is support police in battle Pro-Hamas protesters camped at the University of California, Los Angeles.

I stand in the middle and make sure to provide accurate information.

Then it was off to the races. From anti-Israel protests at the Democratic National Convention, Springfield, Ohio, twice It was an eventful few months to find out what was really going on there. This month, I had the opportunity to attend then-candidate Donald Trump's campaign party in West Palm Beach on Election Day. It was a bit of a full-circle moment, as Trump's first victory in 2016 inspired him to drop out of college, move to Washington, D.C., and pursue journalism full-time.

I am very grateful to Blaze Media for allowing me to work primarily on various articles. Most importantly, thank you to all our viewers. Without your support, I wouldn't be able to do my job. As you probably know, traveling in the Biden-Harris economy can be expensive. Other media companies are also cutting funding for travel.

Your subscription helps fund my ability to go on the ground and tell you the truth about what's happening in this busy country. That trust is something I am conscious of every time I step off the plane.

As for next year, I am very much looking forward to working with Border Patrol and ICE agents again. It's no surprise that the last time I worked for U.S. Customs and Border Protection was in October 2020, right before the election. The Biden-Harris administration didn't want reporters to be with front-line workers to tell them what was really happening in the border crisis they had caused. We have been closed for almost 4 years.

It was only through collaboration with the Border Patrol union and the Texas Department of Public Safety that I was able to hear stories at the border.

The new Trump administration will reopen access to federal resources. The closure of the southern border and deportation operations will be a flashpoint in the country. I stand in the middle and make sure to provide accurate information.
