The Lassen County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) announced that a man who was reported missing 25 years ago has finally been reunited with his family.
The sheriff's office received a call from a woman who said she believed the man in the article was her brother, who she hadn't heard from since his disappearance 25 years ago.
His sister told Sheriff's Deputy Derek Kennermore that his family had been looking for him since August 1999, when he disappeared without a trace, and a GoFundMe had been set up.
“My name is Marcy. My brother Tommy has been missing since August 1999. He disappeared without a trace. Not even his car was found,” Marcela said. (Marcy) Naceri wrote.
“On November 22, 2024, I followed a lead of a living person. A photo of this person was published in USA News and the man in the photo was found sitting on a curb in South Los Angeles. I asked the public if anyone could identify him. Long story short, the fingerprints confirmed the match. I had been looking for an unidentified body and was happy to find him alive. !” GoFundMe says.
“I'm in Lassen County, 900 miles away. He's in Lynnwood, California. I initiated a medical evacuation to a facility in Lassen County. All we know is that he will walk. have just learned and can eat normal food. , and just can't speak the language. I don't have the money to buy the things I need. So far I've been mailing men's clothes, pencil sets, and scratch pads. This is all I can send,” she wrote in the fundraiser.
According to a sheriff's office report, Naceri asked Kennemore for help identifying a man who was admitted to a Los Angeles-area hospital.
Dr Kennemore followed up and found that the man had been transferred to another hospital in July.
The man was unable to speak, but detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department's Missing Persons Unit took fingerprints and eventually identified him as Naceri's younger brother.
Naseri was overjoyed by the discovery and said he had been searching for the “unidentified body” for some time.
Los Angeles Police Department detectives went to the hospital and took fingerprints from the unidentified patient. The fingerprints matched those of a Doyle man who disappeared in 1999.
The brothers plan to be reunited soon, according to the sheriff's office.
