A score draw will send Brighton & Hove Albion into second place in the Premier League tonight, but even a win wouldn’t lift Southampton off the bottom of the table. Given that Brighton, currently fifth in the league, are unbeaten in five against the Saints, and dispatched champions Manchester City in their last fixture at the Amex, you’d have the hosts down as hot favourites tonight. Which they probably are. But Southampton gave a good account of themselves against table-topping Liverpool last weekend, and if they’re able to maintain that level of performance, a second win of the season would be perfectly possible. So while this south-coast derby isn’t exactly poised delicately, it’s not a total home banker either. Kick-off is at 8pm GMT. It’s on!

Fabian Hürzeler told Sky Sports. “If you watch our game, you can see that we are playing very well in some phases, but in some phases we are struggling…The next step is to It's about playing consistently for 90 minutes in every situation… Today we have another chance to prove that… We're heading in the right direction… Our place in the standings is confirmed. But the league is so unpredictable…every day is special. ”

Post bag before the game. To be honest, it's not that overflowing, but what we got is good.

“I live in Brighton and as we speak my daughter is training with the Russell Martin Academy at Hove Park. The academy has also established a school in the city for children who are struggling with traditional education. I hope the hometown fans give him a proper welcome tonight – He seems like a really good egg.” – Tom Atkins

Both of these clubs were featured on today's Ten Talking Points. Their entries are below and have been carefully selected to save you the trouble of clicking through to the actual article and finding it yourself. But you should go there anyway. Otherwise you'll end up just doing yourself out of the other 8 points. Laziness never pays, kids.

Danny Welbeck, who scored six goals in his first nine league games, has settled down in recent weeks, while Joao Pedro has resumed his place as Brighton's main attacker after returning from injury. Welbeck's influence remains, as he scored twice with hold-up play outside the area against Bournemouth, and is now leading the way in the captain's armband in the absence of the injured Lewis Dunk. Under manager Fabian Hürzeler, who is two years younger than him, Welbeck has started every league game this season, which is a huge bonus considering he was hit with injuries at Arsenal. No doubt. Not so long ago, his story was that of a talented forward who hit on some bad luck, a career that won trophies and major tournaments but didn't really improve after he was in his early to mid-20s. The central theme now is his role as the former Brighton player, a key figure in their establishment as a Premier League mainstay. Taha Hashim

Southampton had just six shots against Liverpool, but they have had more than that in 11 of their last 14 games this season, with five games in which they have had at least double that number. There are times. There aren't many straws they can grasp at as they continue to get into trouble at the back and remain stranded at the bottom of the table, but if they can find a clinical touch it could certainly help. Sho. “I think what was a bit unlucky for them was that normally they played much better and created more chances, but they hardly scored,” Arne Slott said. spoke. “Today they created very few chances and scored two goals. If they can combine these things, and the style of play they had in other games with the effectiveness of today, they will win some games. If a team can play pretty badly and still score some goals, as his team just proved, they might be on to something. I don't know. simon burnton

breaking news… And that will have some impact on Southampton's efforts to remain in the Premier League, one way or another.

Here's a reminder of what the Premier League standings will look like heading into Friday Night Football. Last Sunday, Southampton were set for a bottom of the table vs. top of the table clash. They are now faced with a 20th Test against a fifth and possibly a second Test. It's easy in theory, but it's not that easy.

Brighton made two changes to their starting XI after their 2-1 win over Bournemouth. Tariq Lamptey returns from injury and Matt O'Reilly comes off the bench. Carlos Bareva was suspended after receiving a red card at Dean Court, while Joel Veltman was ruled out permanently. Lewis Dunk is also on the bench, returning from an injury layoff.

Southampton made four changes after losing 3-2 at home to Liverpool. Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy leaves the club and is replaced by Premier League debutant Joe Lumley. Ryan Fraser was also on the bench, while Paul Onuachu and Adam Lallana were injured. Cameron Archer, Yukinari Sugawara, and Ryan Manning will play in their place.

Update date and time

preamble

A draw would see Brighton & Hove Albion move into second place in tonight's Premier League table, but even a win would not lift Southampton from bottom of the table. The hosts will be the favorites tonight, given that Brighton, who are currently fifth in the league, are unbeaten in five games against the Saints and face champions Manchester City in their final game at the Amex. Probably so. However, Southampton did well against leaders Liverpool last weekend, and if they can maintain that level of performance, they could very well secure their second win of the season. So while this South Coast Derby is by no means delicate, it's not exactly a home bunker either. Kick-off is at 8pm GMT. It's on!
