If Woody Johnson thought the Jets would stop calling penalties if Robert Saleh was fired, he got a rude warning Sunday that that wasn't the case.
The Jets committed 12 penalties in a 26-21 loss to the Seahawks at MetLife Stadium, including a whopping eight in the fourth quarter.
“We have to look at each penalty and determine exactly whether it's genuine or not,” Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said. “If they aren't real, [see] Let's get to the bottom of what causes it. That's not okay. That's not acceptable. That's not our standard. Penalties ultimately extend the drive. I can't allow that to happen. ”
The Jets completely collapsed in the fourth quarter. They earned three penalties on fourth down, two of which gave the Seahawks a first down on the game-winning drive for the Seahawks.
It was clear that some Jets didn't think the call was a good one.
Cornerback DJ Reed took up X and voiced his dissatisfaction.
“I’m in charge of @NFL [expletive] You guys should be ashamed of yourselves! ” Reed posted.
Although not as good as Matt Eberflus, Ulbrich made some questionable game management decisions at the end of the first half.
The Seahawks had the ball with 1:05 left and the Jets called three timeouts. The Seahawks threw a short pass to get to their own 21, setting up a third-and-four with about a minute left. Had Ulbrich used a timeout, the Jets would have had the ball around midfield with about 50 seconds left and a chance to score more points and take a 21-13 lead. Instead, he moved the clock and the Jets got the ball back with six seconds left. They ran two plays and went to the locker room.
“What stopped me was that it was third and fourth. And this is one of the best teams in the league from third and second to sixth. ,” Ulbrich said. “This is a high-percentage play and they've had most guys convert it for the most part. I just wanted to get out of the first half and stop them from scoring there. In hindsight, that may not have been the best move.”

Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner left the game in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury. Gardner said he doesn't think it's anything serious.
“I feel honest,” Gardner said. “We'll see exactly what's going on. I don't think it's too crazy. I've never had a hamstring injury or anything like that. I don't know what it is, but I'm sure It will get better.”
RT Morgan Moses left the game in the first quarter with a shoulder injury and did not return. Carter Warren played in his place.
LB CJ Mosley (neck) missed his fifth consecutive game.
